Fells in winter, from Dale Head |

Hi folks, Sorry, it's been such a long time that I've been in touch. December had unbelievable poor conditions for shooting, and in January I caught the 'flu for the first time in around 10 years. You can easily tell when you have the real thing - it flattened me for pretty much the full month! If there was a consolation, it was that the dreadful weather continued in January and I didn't miss much. In fact during a brief respite from illness I managed a good day at Brimham Rocks near Harrogate, where I found one of the only good days of light in the month. Fortunately it seemed that as soon as February arrived clear skies and good health returned, and I haven't looked back. I've been very busy (as ever) finishing a book on Edinburgh and the surrounding area for publishers Frances Lincoln, and also working on the Peak District for the first time. These images however come from my first visit to the Lakes since completion of the Lake District book, and what a great time it was to visit, with snow (didn't get any of the stuff for the book!), dramatic breaks in the cloud, and clear, sharp light. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the images; and please get in touch if you haven't for some time. It's always great to compare notes with people. Until next time, when I'll show you some images from the East Lothian coast. Look after yourself. Best wishes Mark
